• Shotover Jet

    From your vantage on the lawn and from the house you will be well aware of the where the Shotover Jet speeds through the river canyon, so why not be brave and head on down with all the family for a huge thrill? The big red boats are known worldwide for their thrills and 360 spins on the river – it will keep you smiling for sure. There is also a café at the operations building so you can feed the adrenaline build up once you have ended your journey.
  • Canyon Swing

    Crossing the Shotover River and heading left at the top of the hill at Arthurs Point is an activity like no other. Unlike the bungy the Canyon Swing involves free fall into the Shotover Gorge and then huge arcing swings once you reach the end of the rope holding you. Many a spine chilling scream has been heard, quickly followed by the laughter and thrill as people accomplish this amazing activity.
  • Moonlight Track

    The narrow but well defined Moonlight Track starts near Ben Lomond Station at the end of Moonlight Road, which is very close by to the Straw Bale Luxury Holiday House. This is a historic route into the Moonlight goldfields and the old goldmining settlement of Sefferstown. The track then continues down to Moke Lake where there is a DoC campsite. There are a few changes you can make with this walk; for a bit of added excitement you can also catch the gondola up and walk to the Ben Lomond Saddle, from here you can drop down and walk to either Arthurs Point or to Moke Lake.
  • Queenstown Rafting

    The Shotover River is well utilised for water activities and this is no exception. The thrill of white water rafting is what this journey is all about. Not only do you get the thrill of the ride on the Skippers Canyon, but then rafting down the Shotover River to the Shotover River Bridge. There is a great surprise near the end, but you will have to try it to find out what it is.
  • Onsen Hotpools

    Whether it is a soothing soak after skiing or snowboarding or a romantic, leisurely way to take in the Shotover Gorge Onsen Hotpools is not to be missed. In a spectacular setting and known for romance, the pools are open year round and are only 2 kms from the Straw Bale Luxury Holiday House. Relax.
  • Coronet Peak

    Probably more recognisable for the winter fun had on the slopes of Coronet Peak, the drive up is well worthwhile any time of year. Spectacular views over the Wakatipu Basin, over to the Remarkables and out to Arrowtown are on offer.
  • Gantleys Restaurant

    After all this activity you may just want to unwind and have a nice meal out in the Arthurs Point area. Gantleys Restaurant is a well known local eating spot. Probably best to call for a reservation.
